Barbara Anne (Parker) Baylock, 75, of Mansfield Center, best friend and loving wife of 52 years of Andrew J. Baylock, peacefully entered into eternal life on Monday (February 2, 2015). Born in Springfield, Massachusetts on June 16, 1939 to the late Walter W. and Marion H. (Roberts) Parker, she spent most of her adult life in Mansfield. Barbara was a graduate of Central Connecticut State University, Class of 1962, and was an elementary school teacher in Plainville and in Bolton. When she and Andrew started a family, that became the focus of her time along with volunteering for several community charities in the Mansfield area. From the mid-1980's through the early 2000's she became "Mama Bear" to innumerable UConn student-athletes, running an evening study hall through the Counseling Program for Intercollegiate Athletics. Barbara greatly enjoyed summers in Cape Cod, Canada and Maine, knitting, feeding the birds, sending cards to friends and family, morning walks at Wal-Mart, and afternoon rides through the countryside. Besides her husband, Andy, Barbara is survived by a son, Jeffrey Baylock and his wife, Gina Benoit of Manchester; two daughters, Andrea Baylock of Amston, and Jennifer Malloy and her husband, Joseph, of Amston; three grandchildren, Kyle Malloy of Manchester, Paige Casey and Shane Casey-Stone of Plainville; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Sevigny of Southington, and Kathy Beaudoin and her husband, Serge, of Southington; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her cherished sister, Nancy Murray of Jasper, AL. Barbara's family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff at St. Joseph Living Center and to the crew at American Ambulance for the outstanding and loving care Barbara received over the past two weeks. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Barbara's name may be made to St. Joseph Living Center, 14 Club Rd, Windham, CT 06280, or to Windham Area Interfaith Ministries, 866 Main St, Willimantic, CT 06226. Calling hours will be from 4-7:00PM on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street (Rte 195), Willimantic, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St, Willimantic, CT. Assembly will be at church. Committal services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
