Bailey Gowin Obituary
Bailey J. Gowin, 26, of Columbia, CT tragically passed away on the evening of February 7, 2022. He was born on November 9th, 1995 in Willimantic, CT, the son of Frederick C. Gowin and Shauna L. (MacArthur) Gowin.
Bailey was a life-long Columbia resident and loved his small town community. He graduated from Horace W. Porter in 2009, followed by a diploma from Windham Tech in 2013. He was very intelligent, and worked extremely hard to provide for his family. As a project manager at Milton C. Beebe & Sons Inc., he excelled in his career. Bailey enjoyed spending weekends relaxing with family, or sitting around a bonfire and reminiscing with his buddies. Cooking was a passion of his, and he sure knew how to chef up a mean steak!
Known for having a heart of gold, with an infectious smile, Bailey had the ability to effortlessly make others laugh. He had a way with words and could naturally connect with anyone, leaving a lasting impression. Bailey’s mission in life was to settle down and start a family of his own, and that was accomplished when he met Brianna Harmon in 2017, along with her beautiful, young daughter, Aubree. They welcomed their baby boy, Emmett, in May of 2019, which to Bailey, fulfilled his purpose and is now his legacy.
He is survived by his father, Frederick Gowin; mother, Shauna Gowin and her boyfriend, Miguel Santiago; girlfriend, Brianna Harmon; children, Emmett Gowin and Aubree Harmon; siblings, MacKenzie Gowin and her boyfriend Kieran Wertheim, Ryan J. Gowin, and Nevaeh Santiago; grandparents, Lori and Barry MacArthur; his faithful dog Remy; and best friend, Shane Vertefeuille.
Bailey’s celebration of life will be on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Yeomans Hall, 323 Route 87, Columbia, CT 06237. This is not a goodbye, it’s a see you soon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the GoFundMe page set up for Bailey’s family.
