Awilda Gonzalez, 58, of Willimantic, CT died on Wednesday, March 11, 2020. She was born on May 8, 1961 to Zoraida Cruz and Pablo Gonzalez in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico.
Awilda graduated high school in Puerto Rico and then relocated to CT. She worked as a seamstress in the garment industry for many years. Her greatest joy was her family especially spending time with her grandchildren. She had a huge heart, giving above and beyond for those who needed help or just a hug. She had a contagious smile and a great sense of humor. Her hobbies included cooking and doing nail art.
Awilda is survived by her children: Viviana Sanchez, Lynette Lebron, Maria Gonzalez, and Jose M. Sanchez.
Her family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, March 16, 2020 from 9:00-11:00 AM at Iglesia Fuente Salvacion Mision, 95 Chapman Street, Willimantic, CT. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow at the New Willimantic Cemetery, RT 32, Willimantic, CT.
