Audrey May Manter

Miss Audrey Manter, 89, died in her home Sunday January 24, 2016. Born March 5, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Florence G. and Jerauld A. Manter of Storrs. After high school she completed her undergraduate degree from Hartt School of Music ('60) and taught private piano lessons and played the organ for several churches in the area. She loved all classical music and played her favored Beethoven well into her eighties. Audrey was a keen observer of the natural world and an avid birder; she was invaluable in assisting her late father's ornithological study of Birds of Storrs, Connecticut and Vicinity. Audrey was preceded in death by her brothers Jerauld T. Manter of Binghamton, NY and Stanley P. Manter of Storrs. She will be missed by her five nieces and nephews, Gregory Manter, Jerauld W. Manter, Larry Manter, Bette J. Manter and Carol Brugger. The family wishes to thank the wonderful community and staff of Juniper Hill Village and the entire Utopia Assisted Living care team for their kind and skilled support of Audrey for the last three years.
