Arthur Charles Welles, 94, of Mansfield CT, beloved husband of Adele (Costa) Welles passed away on November 15,2014. HE was born on June 15, 1920 in Hartford CT, son of the late Arthur H. and Marjorie (Allen) Welles. He lived most of his life in the Hartford area before retiring to Cape Cod. He moved back to Ct to be closer to his family several years ago. He graduated from Weaver High School and served in the US Coast Guard during WWII. He was a lieutenant in the Detective Division of the Hartford Police Dept. for 25 years before retiring. He was a rabid Yankees fan, a trait he passed on to several of his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks. Besides his wife of 71 Years, he is survived by five children. Margaret Blake and her husband Curt, Charles Welles and his wife Michele, Catherine Morisky and her husband Dick, Michael Welles and his wife Micky, and Diane Dorman and her husband Dennis. He was predeceased by his youngest daughter Jacqueline Welles Voss, wife of Jeff Voss. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
