Arthur W. Goodwin

Arthur W. Goodwin Sr., 80, of Kennerson Reservoir Rd., Ashford, died Thursday Dec. 20, 2001 at the Roncalli Health Center, Willimantic. He was born Aug. 1, 1921 in Stafford Springs, the son of Howard and Genevieve (Bicknell) Goodwin. He was a U.S.. Army veteran of W.W.2 serving with the 344th Bomb Group. He owned and operated Goodwin Milk Transportation and later worked at Millstone in Waterford. Mr. Goodwin was a member of the Warrenville Baptist Church and a charter member of the Fin Fur and Feather Club in Chaplin. He raised and trained English Setters for many years. Art loved to hunt and fish with his sons and grandsons. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth (Kendall) Goodwin, 2 daughters; Dale G. Goodwin of Windham and Cheryl Jensen of N.C., 4 sons; William of Ashford, Arthur W. Jr. and his wife Kathy and Bruce and his wife Arlene all of Ashford, and Gregory and his wife Tammy of Eastford, 11 beloved grandchildren; Jodi, Heather, Troy, Penny, Nancy, Eric, Kevin,Christopher, Dustin,Sierra and Cody, 10 beloved great grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Olivia, Abigail, Hannah, Ben, Jarod, Teddy, Hadley and Nathan, brothers and sisters in law; Robert and Marguerite of Eastford, Conrad and Lorraine of Windham and Philip of Woodstock, 3 sisters; Alice Hackenschmidt of Oregon, Beatrice Bebbington of Woodstock and Constance Dombroski of Thompson and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 infant sons Russell and Scott, 2 brothers Ralph and Lawrence and 3 sisters Ruth Dion, Clara Ellson and Emily Richards. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 1:00pm with the Rev. Tom Wallis officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Woodward Cemetery, Ashford. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial donations to the Ashford Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O, Box 1, Ashford, Ct. 06278.
