Arthur B. Cobb, 89, of Columbia, CT passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at St. Joseph's Living Center surrounded by his loving family. Art was born to Robert and May Cobb, September 7, 1925 in Columbia,CT. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years Betty (Yurkshot); brothers Raymond and James Cobb; sister Dorothy and son in laws David N. Bell and Taras Najduch. Art attended Windham High School before being drafted into the Army and serving during World War II, wounded in battle he was awarded the Purple Heart for his service. Art worked for many years at Cheney Bros., Horace Porter School, and W.T. Grant before eventually retiring from the J.C. Penney Co. He is survived by daughters Linda M. Najduch of Holly Hill Fla. Sharon A. Bell of Columbia, CT and Palm Coast Fla.; son Brent D. Cobb of Columbia, CT and his wife Roberta of Willimantic, CT; and his sister Betty Dunnack of Columbia, CT. Art also leaves behind seven loving grandchildren and nine great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Joseph's Living Center for their care during his stay. A memorial service will be held at 6:00PM on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Columbia Congregational Church, 325 Rte. 87, Columbia, CT. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Columbia Congregational Church.
