Arthur C. Ayer, 81, of North Windham, husband of Leandra (Allen) Ayer, died Monday April 4, 2005 at the Windham Hospital. He was born Aug. 14, 1923 in Manchester, the son of Arthur and Hazel (Irons) Ayer. Arthur had been employed for 25 years at Electric Boat in Groton prior to his retirement. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ashford. Arthur assisted in the construction of the Ashford church as well as several other church buildings in the Connecticut and Rhode Island area. He was an avid fly fisherman and also was a ham radio operator, known as W1OND. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Samuel Ayer of Hyannis, MA., a daughter Shannon Ayer of N. Windham and a granddaughter Carolyn Churchill of N. Windham. He was predeceased by 2 children, Arthur C. and Steven A. Ayer. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11:00am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 511 Ashford Center Rd. (Rte. 44) Ashford. Burial will be private in the South Chaplin Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers. His family suggests memorial donations to the Windham Free Library, P.O.
