Arnold Hinckley Obituary
Arnold C. Hinckley, 85, of Brooklyn, CT, formerly of Columbia, CT, passed away on July 25, 2023. He was born in Greenfield, MA, the son of the late Edwin G. and Harriet H. Hinckley and the husband of the late Polly Hinckley.
Arnold lived in Conway, MA until his family moved to Windham, CT in 1945. He was active on the family farm. He attended Windham High School where he met his wife, Polly. He played football and was active in the Future Farmers of America. He graduated Windham High in 1956 and attended the University of Connecticut where he received an associates degree in Dairy Farming in 1958. He worked as a farmer until 1964, when he started working for the State of Connecticut at the Mansfield Training School. He retired in 1992.
Arnold was a devoted member of the Columbia Congregational Church, serving on various committees.
Most of all, Arnold was a devoted husband and dad and grandpa to his family. He enjoyed summer family vacations in Wolfeboro, NH and trips to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. He also enjoyed teasing family and friends and sharing laughter with as many people as possible.
He is survived by his children, Cindy and Rev. Bernie Hinckley; grandchildren, Julia and Alexandra Hinckley: his siblings, Thelma, Henry, and his wife Lynne, Nancy, and Ginny and her husband Lloyd.
There will be no calling hours and the graveside service is private. His celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 10:00am at the Columbia Congregational Church, 325 CT-87. Columbia, CT. The family is requesting that no flowers be sent and to instead send a memorial donation to the Columbia Congregational Church in Arnold’s name.
