Archibald Macdonald

Archibald "Archie" MacDonald, age 69 of Chaplin, CT passed away on March 23, 2015, at Daykimball Hospital, Putnam, CT after a protracted battle with cancer. Archie is survived by his wife of 45 years Rachel (Phillips) MacDonald; four sisters Joan (MacDonald) Gilmore of Port Charlotte, Fl. Dorothy (MacDonald) Harris, of Storrs, CT, Beverly (MacDonald) Houle of Lebanon, CT, Geraldline (MacDonald) Freeman of Windham, CT; and his brother William MacDonald of Lexington SC. His children Elaine (MacDonald) Dumas of Storrs, CT, Tammy (MacDonald) LaFlamme of Canterbury, CT, Scott MacDonald. Grandchildren Keith & Dennis MacDonald, Angie & Trevor LaFlamme, and Ashley Murcia. Great grand Children Aylah & Elijah Murcia, as well as many nieces and nephews and many he took under his wing who referred to him as "Pops". He is preceded by his parents and eldest son Sheldon "Andy" MacDonald of Chaplin, CT. Archie was born August 1, 1945 in Windham Ct, to Archie and Dorothy (Hyde) MacDonald. He grew up in Mansfield Ct. Archie worked for Hain Material Corp for the majority of his working career. He was a great family man and a loving father. He enjoyed his Scottish Heritage, fishing, bowling, and the outdoors and family gatherings. His family and friends will always remember him as "a give you the shirt off his back", kind of guy. A Celebration of Life memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 11:00 am, at the Chaplin Congregational Church, 43 Chaplin St, Chaplin, CT. A reception will follow.
