Anthony "Tony" Shibenski, Sr., 77, of Willimantic, died peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Hartford Hospital. He was born on June 5, 1936 in Lebanon, CT where he grew up on his family's farm. He was the son of the late Tony and Lillian (Edwards) Shibenski. Tony was employed for many years by Al's Sheet Metal Shop and later by the Town of Windham Public Works Department. He spent his entire adult life living in the Willimantic area and was a home body who enjoyed working in his yard and puttering around with his tools and tractors. You could call him a "jack of all trades". He enjoyed watching wrestling and golf on TV although he was never a golfer. He is survived by his four children, Linda Shibenski of Willimantic, Barbara Straub (Charles) of Mansfield, Deborah Ashburn (William) of Rochester, N.H. and Anthony Shibenski, Jr. of Willimantic, a sister Amelia Simoneau (George) of Lisbon, a step-sister Loretta Ausburger (David) of Columbia and a step- brother, William Rioux (Sharon) of Columbia. He had a special place in his heart for his beloved grandson, Jason Shibenski, whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by grandchildren Jennifer Barrows of Vernon, Jessica Barrows of Willimantic, Chastity Corriveau (Fred Wentworth), Stacey Price (Dan), Christina Sandock , William Ashburn, all from New Hampshire, Anthony Shibenski III of Dayville, Nicole Shibenski of Texas and Amanda Shibenski Mayo of Manchester. In addition he is survived by 10 great grandchildren and his wife Patricia of Willimantic. He also leaves his little dog, Lucy. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. His family will receive friends at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Friday July 12, 2013 between 10:00am and 11:00am with funeral services beginning at 11:00am. Burial will follow in the New Lebanon Cemetery, Waterman Road, Lebanon.
