Anthony Linkkila Sr. Obituary
Anthony Ross Linkkila Sr., husband of the late Donna (Godfrey) Linkkila passed away peacefully at his home on September 25, 2024. He was born at home on August 12, 1937, in Hampton, CT to the late Rita (Moran) and Henry A. Linkkila.
Tony was a multi-talented man, curious, inventive, and a voracious reader. Searching for his niche in life, he worked for Sears and U.P.S., spent a period as a Willimantic police officer, and finally opted to enter the construction field. Tony worked for Klewin Construction, spent a year in Saudi Arabia on a building project, and finally formed his own business, “T-Link Construction Co.”
A self -taught musician, Tony mastered the fiddle, accordion, and other instruments. Always pondering a better “mousetrap” he took a pleasure in creating new “gadgets” for family and friends. His creation of “The Stump-Water Brewing Co.” lead to an annual “Guys Only” garage gathering where he and his guest ate, sampled brews, and exchanged “stories”.
Tony is survived by two sons, Anthony R. Linkkila Jr. of Thompson, CT and Henry (Joyce) P. Linkkila of Middleburg, FL.; siblings, Peter Linkkila of Hampton, CT, Timothy Linkkila of Orleans, MA, Karin Trumm of Putnam, CT, and Shelley Bellman of Pomfret, CT; six grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. In addition, Tony leaves his dear companion, Beverly Young, close friend Al Hawkins, and his former wife, Patricia Grayson.
Tony was also predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Debra Linkkila, a brother C. Thomas Everett and his sister Faith Vertefeuille.
Like any true “Finn” Tony had a “crusty” exterior which hid a “big” heart. He will be missed.
