Anthony Joseph Ferrigno, 87, of Windham, husband of nearly 60 years to Edith (Carney) Ferrigno, died Friday, May 8, 2009 at the Windham Hospital. He was born June 16, 1921 in Middletown, the son of Antonio and Michela (Ranno) Ferrigno and had lived in Windham the past 50 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War Two serving three years in the Pacific Theatre, receiving two purple hearts on New Guinea. Anthony was a tile setter for several area construction companies and more recently had been employed as a maintainer at the Willimantic Police Department. He was a member of the Willimantic Elks Lodge #1311, V.F.W. Gold Star Post #24 and the James J. Shea Post, American Legion. In addition to his wife he is survived by three children, Judith A. Ferrigno of North Woodstock, John R. Ferrigno of Willimantic and Tracy F. Lee and her husband Tom of Lebanon, two grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Amanda H. Lee and Jared T. Lee, two sisters, Connie Chowaniec and Rose Shefcyk, both of Portland, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by five brothers and four sisters. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Wednesday, May 13th from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in the New Lebanon Cemetery.
