Anne Leora (Kapusta) Martens passed away September 2, 2010 at Windham Hospital, Willimantic. She was born February 10, 1915 in Greenwich, Connecticut to Stefan and Maria (Junas) Kapusta. Our Mimi was an engaging and beautiful woman who was multilingual, a gourmet cook, model, master gardener, who traveled and read extensively. Her friends and family have wonderful memories of spending many summers and holidays with her on Cape Cod where she lived for nearly 40 years. She was predeceased by her husbands Arthur Z. Brooks and Donald J. Martens, her sister Wilma Anderson and brothers John, William, Joseph, and Stefan and is survived by her sister Josephine Flansberg, daughter and son-in-law Victoria and John Duers with whom she had made her home, son and daughter-in-law Arthur Z. Brooks and Julie Noel, grandchildren Chance Hammond, Stephanie and James Harrington and Christopher and Jessica Duers and great-grandchildren Saxon Stockdale, Kai Glembocki, Peyton Hammond, Nicklaus and Cory Harrington, Caroline and Elizabeth Duers, many nieces, nephews and extended family and her good friend, Jeanne Bronk. The family wishes to thank the staff at Douglas Manor for their loving care during her time there. There are no calling hours; services are private.
