Anne E. Bass

Anne Bass of Bass Road, Scotland, passed away June 28th at Hartford Hospital. Born in 1933, Anne was the daughter of Eben and Helen Bass. After her mother's death in 1973, Anne lived with her brother Stephen and sister-in-law Evelyn, whom she called "Mom" and "Dad". Anne spent much of her adult life working on the family farm. She loved shopping, card playing, dancing, and a good joke. Her personality and laughter filled a room; no one could forget her laugh. She had a sharp wit and an even sharper perception of others and was a good friend to those who entered her circle. She was adored by her nieces and nephews, and in her younger days was a wiffle-ball power threat with a unique one-handed swing. Later in her life her favorite times were spent with her staff, as she called them, at Tri-County ARC, including Deanna Rios, Kelly LeBlanc, Doreen Grogan, and Denise Tetreault. Anne is survived by her brothers Stephen and David Bass, of Scotland, William Bass of Ocala, Florida, her sister Claire Krueger of Prattsburgh, New York., and her many nieces and nephews, including Jennifer Bass, also of Scotland, who has been her primary care giver since Evelyn's death in 2007. Anne will be sorely missed by all who knew her. A brief memorial service will be held on the Scotland Green, at the stone bench dedicated to Anne's mother, on July 30th at 10:00 a.m. All who wish to celebrate Annie are invited.
