Annabell Spinner

Annabell L. (McManus) Spinner, 90, of Willimantic, wife of the late Roy A. Spinner, went to eternal sleep on Sunday June 1, 2014 at Douglas Manor, Windham. She was born on May 23, 1924 in Constable, New York, the daughter of Hugh and Nellie (Hammond) McManus and resided most of her life in Willimantic. As a child she lived on her family farm. After marring Roy in 1950, they bought a small farm in Malone, New York. They had three boys while on that farm and moved to Connecticut in the 1960's. Annabell was employed by American Thread Co. for twelve years and then at UConn in housekeeping for ten years. She loved UConn women's and men's basketball and also loved going shopping, it was always an adventure. Her favorite times were spent with her family, friends and her special friends, the neighbors. Annabell is survived by her three sons, Clifford and his wife Beth of Columbia, Carl and his wife Kathy of Lebanon and Grant and his wife Gale of Columbia; three grandchildren who meant the world to her, Clayton Spinner of West Hartford and Maggie and Ben Spinner of Lebanon. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews including George Spinner of Willimantic who was like a son, his wife Veronica who was like a daughter and their daughter Marcia who was like a granddaughter. The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Jones and everyone at Douglas Manor for the wonderful care they provided to Annabell and her family. You are all very special friends and she loved you all. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday June 3, 2014 between 6:00 and 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Wednesday by 10:15am prior to the procession to her 11:00am Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St., Willimantic. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorial donations to Douglas Manor Residents Fund, 103 North Rd., Windham, CT. 06280.
