Anna Mae Reed, 84, of Willimantic, widow of John Reed Sr., died Sunday, December 5, 2004 in Willimantic. She was born October 17, 1920 in Sharon, PA, the daughter of William and Maude (Townsend) Poole and had lived in Windham most of her life. She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Willimantic where she served as the first Deaconess and as Mother of the Church as well as many other offices. Her family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation for the outstanding care and compassion provided by the staff of Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family. She is survived by 4 children, John Reed Jr. of Hartford, Lillie Mae Ruggs of Deltona, FL, Leonard Reed of Lebanon and Henry Reed of Columbia, a brother, Charles Poole of St. Augustine, FL, 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 daughters, Carolyn Wimms and Nancy Ligon. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte.195, Willimantic on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, 412 Valley St. Willimantic. Burial will follow in the New Willimantic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Calvary Baptist Church, 412 Valley St. Willimantic, CT 06226.
