Born on September 18, 1947, in Hartford, Connecticut, Ann-Marie was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Her final days were spent surrounded by the warmth of her family in Willington, CT.

The eldest daughter of David M. Silva and Katherine (Flannery) Silva, Ann-Marie is survived by her two younger brothers, David Silva Jr. and Dennis Q. Silva. Her life was enriched by the love she shared with her late husband, John C. Schlaefer, and was further blessed with her children, David J. Schlaefer and his partner Scott Anderson, and Janet A. Burgess and her husband James R. Burgess. The joy of her life was her granddaughter, Amanda J. Burgess, with whom she shared countless precious moments.

Ann-Marie was a proud graduate of Ellington High School, where her passion for music and the arts grew. Her love for music led her to volunteer her talents. She played music for senior citizens and nurtured the next generation of musicians through her own music studio in Bolton, CT. She taught piano and accordion lessons, instilling a sense of rhythm and melody in the hearts of many.

In addition to her musical pursuits, Ann-Marie had a flair for home decor and retail sales. She also played an integral role in Schlaefer Construction, the family business established by her husband in 1966. Her contributions to the business were as invaluable as they were lovingly given.

Ann-Marie's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. She relished the tranquility of cross-country skiing and the adventure of boating in Vermont, where she and John had a second home. Her appreciation for the arts was evident in her enjoyment of Broadway shows and musical performances, which sparked her love for dancing. Above all, Ann-Marie cherished the simple pleasures of life, such as dining out with her family and exploring new retail finds.
