Ann Lucey Obituary
Ann Lucey, a beloved member of her community and a fountain of selfless love, passed away peacefully in New Britain, CT. Born on June 13, 1932, in South Weymouth, MA, she led a life rich in family connections, and notable achievements. She was the loving daughter of the late Ernest and Ethel (Merritt) Edson. Ann was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John F. Lucey Jr., her brother Richard Edson, and her sister Connie Shepaum. Her strength, kindness, and enduring spirit are carried on by her treasured son, Robert Lucey and his wife Bette, her caring daughters Maureen Perkins and Debra Parton and Debra’s husband Joe. Ann's joy was multiplied by her six grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, and her dear friend of forty years, Enid Mikulski, who has been a constant source of support and companionship. Ann received her education in the Windham Public Schools, shaping her into a lifelong learner and an advocate of knowledge. Her career took her to the Mansfield Training school, where she served as the store keeper. Her diligent work ethic and exceptional dedication led her to receive an award from the State of Connecticut, a testament to her outstanding work in her role. The interests Ann held close to her heart were as versatile as they were endearing. She had a profound love for gardening and a deep appreciation for the beauty of flowers. She was fond of casino trips, relishing in the thrill of the game and the spirit of camaraderie. The memories she made on trips to Maine with her beloved husband John were especially dear to her. Precious moments spent with Marion and Joe in Groton Long Point were also a source of immense joy. Her Irish heritage was something she held dear, and she was a proud member of the Irish Club. A dedicated fan, she took pleasure in supporting the UCONN Women's Basketball team. However, above all, time spent with her family was what Ann treasured most. She embodied the essence of family unity, always making every gathering special with her warm presence. Her selfless, loving, and kind nature turned ordinary moments into cherished memories, making her the heart of her family. Everyone will remember her always full cookie jar. Ann Lucey lived a life full of love and kindness, leaving a lasting impression on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy is not just in her achievements, but in the lives she touched with her warmth and generosity. As we remember Ann, we celebrate a beautiful life well-lived and a soul that enriched the world with kindness and love. May her memory continue to inspire us all to live with the same selflessness and love she exemplified throughout her life.
