Anita Gauthier Obituary
Anita Gauthier, 93, of Windham, passed away peacefully in her home on July 7th, 2024. She was born in Willimantic, CT to the late Jacob and Antonia (Morytko) Wrzesien.
Anita graduated from Windham High School, class of 1949, entering the workforce soon after. She began her career working for Electro-Motive in Willimantic, followed by Rogers Corp. Anita last worked at Walmart, where she started as a greeter before moving up to the human resources department. Due to her love of socializing with colleagues and customers alike, Anita stayed with Walmart until retiring in her mid-80s.
Always keeping busy, you could often find her shopping, spending time with friends, or gardening. If she wasn’t out of the house finding something to do, Anita enjoyed keeping up with the UConn Huskies, men and women, and spending time with her family.
Anita is survived by her loving children; son Thomas Gauthier and wife Laura, of New Bern, NC, and daughter Diane Labanara and husband Louis, of Chaplin, CT. Also left behind are her grandchildren; Julie Gauthier of Coventry, CT, Katie and husband Chris of Tyngsborough, MA, and Kelly and fiancé TJ of Worcester, MA; great grandchildren Remi and Milo; sister Anne Williams of CA; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, beloved husband Joseph Gauthier, son Timothy Gauthier, and many siblings.
An hour of visitation will be held on Friday, July 12th at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic, from 9:00-10:00AM. A funeral service is to follow immediately after, beginning at 10:00AM. Burial will then be private, at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St., Willimantic.
