Retired UConn Biologist Andris "Andy" Indars, 61, of Brooklyn Turnpike, Windham, husband of Nita (Lemire) Indars, died Thursday Aug. 30, 2001 at the W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, after a long battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 21, 1940 in Riga, Latvia the son of Alfreds and Minna Indars. He had retired from the University of CT. where he had been employed as a biologist for 30 years. He was a member of the Assoc. for Biology Laboratory Education and the National Assoc. of Biology Teachers. Andy was also a member of the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History and the Mystic Art Assoc. He enjoyed art, music, fishing, canoeing and being with people . In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter Ellen Indars-Siddell of Willimantic, 3 grandchildren; Randy Siddell, Malaika Lee and Cheyenne Lee all of Willimantic. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11:00am at the Latvian Lutheran Church, 76 Windham Rd. Willimantic. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers.
