Dr. Andrew T. Kusmer, 88, of Willimantic, husband of Gladys (Rumps) Kusmer, died Friday April 30, 2004 in Windham. He was born November 15, 1915 in Willimantic, the son of Simon and Maryann (Kania) Kuscmierczak and had lived in Willimantic all his life. He was a graduate of Windham High School, Windham Regional Technical School, the University of Connecticut and Loyola University Dental School in Chicago. He interned at Forsyth Infirmary in Boston before opening private practice in Willimantic. He served in the Navy during World War II and in the Army Dental Corps during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his wife he is survived by 3 children, Carl Kusmer and his wife Cheryl of Mansfield, Paul Kusmer of Lake City, GA, Anne Denson and her husband John of Noank, 4 grandchildren, Heather Townsend of Lake City, GA, Kara, Jonathan and Ashley Denson of Noank, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Mary. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St., Willimantic with assembly at the church. Burial will be private in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St., Willimantic, CT 06226.
