Andre W. Marchand, 70, of Windham, died unexpectedly on Sunday Feb. 6, 2005 at his home. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Evengeline Marchand, a daughter Joyce and also his soul mate, best friend and wife of 41 years, Karen, who left us just one month ago. Andre was a U.S. Navy veteran graduating in 1952 from the U.S. Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, IL., Co.#389. He served aboard the U.S.S. Lake Champlain CVA-39 from 1954-1955, ending his duty in 1956. Andre was employed by Republic Technologies in Willimantic until retiring in 1997 after 40 years of service. He also had been employed by the Hartford Courant as a bulk carrier for 17 years. He is survived by his two sons, Alan Marchand of Scotland and Thomas Marchand of Hebron; his daughter and son in law Brenda and Keith Lambert of Columbia, five beautiful grandchildren, Justine, Corrine and Alyssa Lambert and Justin and Elise Marchand , whom he loved, cherished and adored. He is also survived by 4 brothers, Vital and Lucien of Willimantic, Jerry of CA. and Alfred of FL., 2 sisters, Yvette of Chaplin and Claire of CA. and his stepmother Irene Marchand of Willimantic. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. , Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. There are no calling hours.
