Amelia (Halchek) Burdick, born October 27, 1921 in Willington, CT passed away on April 24, 2013. Amelia was the youngest of nine children and married to Fred Burdick. They settled in the Willimantic area and lived here all their lives. After Fred passed away, Amelia worked third shift at the University of Connecticut until her retirement in 1986. This was more than a job for her; she loved what she did and made a lot of friends in the process. Amelia leaves her loving and cherished Goddaughter, Lisa Lester and her husband James R. Lester and their children, James W. Lester (fiancee Samantha Gayeski) and Amanda M. Lester. Amelia also leaves behind her nieces, Beverly Danser and Barbara Dion of Willington. Amelia was blessed to have many special friends in her life and two of those friends are Thomas Welch of Ashford and Evelyn Parizek of Willington. Also left behind are Amelia's extended families; the Lesters, Fields and Waldrons. All who knew her knew that she was a very special lady and could be seen walking on Main Street in Willimantic at 3:00 AM with a big smile on her face and an even bigger wave. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic. Burial will follow in Willington Hill Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
