Alphonse A. Joly, 86, of Mansfield, husband of the late Evelyn (Boisvert) Joly, died Monday, August 10, 2009 at Hartford Hospital. He was born January 13, 1923 in St. Ignace du Lac, Quebec, grew up in the Norwich area and had lived in Willimantic for several years before moving to Mansfield in 1950. Alphonse was a proud U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and had been employed for many years by the Jones and Laughlin Steel Company in Willimantic. He is survived by three children, Phyllis Greenberg and her husband Morris of Anaheim, CA, Linda Joly of Apollo Beach, FL and David Joly and his wife Michele of East Granby, a brother, Ore Joly and his wife Aline of Taftville, three grandchildren, Douglas Greenberg and his wife Jaqueline, Andrew Joly and his fiancAC. Bonnie and Amanda Joly, many nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic, Wednesday, August 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Thursday morning at 10:15 a.m. prior to the procession to his Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Willimantic. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham.
