Alice Smith Obituary
Alice (Deming) Smith, 93, of Columbia, wife of the late Charles E. Smith, Jr, died peacefully January 16, 2022 at home. She was born in Chaplin, CT, the daughter of the late Wesley and Delphina (Mackey) Deming. Alice was a graduate of Windham High School, Class of 1946. She was very proud of her service as an airplane spotter during World War II.
Alice is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and James O’Malley; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Myrna Smith, and her beloved grandchildren, Aidan, Hayley, Gregory, and Liam; she is also survived by her longtime companion, Donald Morse. Alice’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, January 21, 2022, from 11:00am to 12:00pm, at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street, Willimantic, with her funeral service beginning at 12:00pm. Burial will follow at the Old Willimantic Cemetery, Willimantic. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Columbia Volunteer Fire Department.
