Alice Y. (Roy) Levesque, 88, of Columbia, CT. ,died Friday Sept. 29, 2006 at Windham Hospital. She was born Jan. 14, 1918 in Willimantic,CT. the daughter of Pierre and Catherine (Laramee) Roy. On Oct. 26, 1942, Alice married Lucien E. Levesque at Green Meadows in Willimantic. She was a 1936 graduate of Windham High School and started college at the age of 40 with six children at home, ages 2,4,6,8,10 and 12. In 1964 she graduated from Eastern CT. State College and then taught third grade at Horace W. Porter School in Columbia,CT. until 1981. In retirement, Alice and Lucien traveled with their RV to much of the U.S., along with Mexico and Canada. They spent many winters in Florida and particularly liked Marathon Key. Alice was very active in the Columbia Canoe Club along with Lucien and their children. She volunteered at Windham Memorial Hospital, the Saxton B. Little Library and was a member of the Columbia Historical Society. Alice loved reading, history, opera and horses. She is survived by 6 children, Richard Levesque of Falmouth, ME., Raymond Levesque of Westfield, MA., Eugene Levesque of Columbia, CT., Janet Morelli of Portland, ME., Peter Levesque of East Longmeadow, MA. and Suzanne Cole of N. Monmouth, ME.; 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a brother Phillip Roy of Storrs, a sister Theresa Hinson of Manchester , 2 nieces and 2 nephews. Her family will receive friends at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Tuesday between 6:00 and 8:00pm. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10:00am at St. Columba Church, intersection of Rte. 66 and Rte. 87, Columbia, CT. Interment will follow in West St. Cemetery, Columbia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to the Saxton B. Little Library, Rte. 87, Columbia, CT. 06237 or to Windham Memorial Hospital, 112 Mansfield Ave. Willimantic,CT. 06226.
