Alice B. Fowler

Alice B. Fowler, 91, of Willimantic, widow of Leslie W. Fowler, died Tuesday June 10, 2003 in Windham. She was born March 28, 1912 in Berlin, CT, daughter of the late William and Lizzetta (Slater) Brehant. She attended Willimantic schools and graduated from Windham High School with the class of 1930. She was married to Leslie W. Fowler on June 7, 1937 in Norwich where they lived for a few years before moving to Willimantic. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Willimantic where she was made a permanent deacon and served on numerous committees. Prior to her retirement she was employed at The Clark's restaurant in Willimantic for 42 years, from the day they opened in 1947 until they closed in 1989. She was a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War and a lifetime volunteer for the Windham Area Interfaith Ministry. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Susan Fowler of Hampton, a grandson, Paul Leslie Inguanti of Norwich, 3 granddaughters, Sara and her husband Paul Finkler of Teaneck, NJ, Jill and her husband Matt Beaudoin of Norwich, Melissa and her husband William Rood of Willimantic, 6 great granddaughters, Charlotte Radwell, Alice, Adeline and Lilly Finkler, Christa Clarke and Cosette Douglas, a great grandson William L. Rood III, a sister Winifred Krohn of Norwich and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Barbara Inguanti, a sister, Eunice Hanks and a brother Harold Brehant. A memorial service will be held Thursday 2:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Willimantic, 199 Valley St. Willimantic. Burial will be private in the New Willimantic Cemetery.
