Alfred Niisuke

Alfred Niisuke, 80, of Mansfield, husband of the late Astra (Grauberg) Niisuke, died Tuesday Sept. 30, 2003 at his home. He was born Feb. 10, 1923 in Narva, Estonia and grew up there. After residing in Germany for four years , he moved to Australia and then to Mansfield in the late 1950's. He owned and operated Al's Weatherstriping for many years. Al was a member of the Estonian Society of CT. and was an avid fisherman and golfer as a member of the Willimantic Country Club. He is survived by his daughter Li Astrid Poll and her husband Dieter of Hamburg, Germany, 2 grandsons, 2 sisters in law; Gorinne Diffley of Windham and Lilian Bein of Alexandria, VA., a niece and 2 nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Monday from 3:00 to 4:00 pm with his funeral service to be held at 4:00pm. Burial will be on Tuesday in Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial donations to the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church of CT., 9 Runde Lane, Bloomfield, CT. 06002.
