Alfred Eggen Obituary
On September 15, 2023, Alfred C. W. Eggen, age 90, of Ashford, CT went to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born in New York City on April 4, 1933. After graduating from Brooklyn Technical High School, he earned his mechanical engineering degree at Brooklyn Polytech Institute and his Master’s Degree at Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute. He was an engineer at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. After leaving Pratt and Whitney he taught as an assistant professor of engineering at the University of Hartford. He then formed his own company, K.T. Lear Associates, which designed and built many solar homes throughout eastern CT.
Alfred is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Marianne (Wenzel) Eggen, and his two sons, Peter W. Eggen of Charlton, MA, and Andrew E. Eggen of Willimantic, CT. He also leaves his niece, Catherine R. Nugent and her husband William Nugent of Fair Lawn, NJ as well as their sons Daniel Nugent of Providence RI and Christopher Nugent of Fair Lawn, NJ.
A service of remembrance and celebration of Al's life will be held on Saturday, October 7th, 2023, at 11am at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, 220 Valley Street in Willimantic, CT. A reception will follow at Blondie's in Chaplin, CT.
