Alexander “Alex” Charles Coriaty passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, July 17, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Alex was born to the late Diane and Charles Coriaty. Alex is survived by his sons Dylan Coriaty of Lakeland, FL, Keegan and Cameron Coriaty of East Lyme, CT, his sister, Diane Coriaty-Rayhall, nephew Anthony Rayhall and nieces Ashley and Chelsey Rayhall.

Alex grew up in Willimantic and graduated from Windham High School. Alex was a member of the high school basketball team and an avid fan of the Boston Celtics and the Dallas Cowboys.

Alex played basketball for Mitchell College and continued his education and basketball career at Eastern Connecticut State University.

After graduating college, Alex joined the Willimantic Police Department and served there for 22 years. During that time, he rose through the ranks and retired as a Lieutenant. Alex also worked at the Mashantucket Police Department for eight years and was most currently working at the Killingly Police Department.

One of Alex’s longtime passions was being a member of the Elks. He served in many capacities as a member of Elks Lodge #1311 in Willimantic. He ultimately served there as Exalted Ruler and past District Deputy Director.

Alex’s biggest love was his family. He was a very dedicated and loving father. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his boys. Whether it was shooting hoops, coaching basketball, going fishing, going out to dinner or just spending quality time together.

Calling hours will be held at Potter Funeral Home in Willimantic on Thursday, July 23 from 5–8pm and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church in Willimantic on Friday, July 24 at 10am.
