Albin S. Stygar

Albin S. Stygar, 86, of Windham, husband of the late Dorothy (Bernard) Stygar, died Sunday, April 22, 2012 in Windham. He was born May 7, 1925 in Willimantic, the son of Albert and Helena (Rygielski) Stygar and had lived in Windham all his life. He was a proud U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the V. F. W. Albin was a life member of the Pulaski American Citizen's Club and a life member of the Windham Center Volunteer Fire Department. Prior to his retirement he was employed for many years at Jones and Laughlin Steel Co. His greatest hobby was cutting, splitting and stacking wood. He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Donna and James Andrychowski, Cheryl and Richard Urban, all of Windham, a son, Donald Stygar and his wife Maria of Michigan, seven grandchildren, Chrystyna Andrychowski, Sherry Smardon and her husband Michael, Jennifer Cooley and her husband Ross, Meagan Harkins and her husband Raymond, Sarah Lombino and her husband Philip, Stephanie Smith and her husband Josh and Duane Stygar and his wife Lexi; seven great grandchildren, Rajchel and Alexandra Smardon, Khloe and Lilyan Harkins, Abby, Caleb and Jackson Smith and two more to be born in July, and his favorite pal, Ozzy. He was predeceased by six sisters and one brother. His family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, April 26th 2012 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic, prior to the procession to his Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
