Agnes P. Fortier

Agnes (Eichner) Fortier, 88, of Willimantic was reunited to be "together forever" in eternal peace with the love of her life Gerard Joseph Fortier on May 30, 2015 following a long battle with Dementia. She was a resident of the St. Joseph's Living Center in Windham Connecticut at the time of her passing. Agnes was born on February 6, 1927 to William Eichner and Julia (Suffish) Eichner of Coventry. Agnes was a lifelong resident of Willimantic. She was married to Gerard for nearly 65 years before his passing in January of 2012. Agnes worked for a brief time at the Electric Motive Company before becoming a full time homemaker and mother of her five daughters. Agnes led a very active and productive life carving out time for her weekly bowling league and her membership in the St. Mary's Guild. As her children grew older she was afforded the time to pursue other interests including reupholstering, which she was quite skilled at and traveling. Agnes managed a very successful travel business (Friendly Travel) for many years along with friends who shared similar interests. She was able to visit all fifty states and several exotic places abroad. Agnes is survived by her five daughters nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren; Cynthia Lazar and husband Robert of Munford Tennessee, grandsons Jeremy and Jeffrey Dembinski, Sandra Philips and husband Evan of Windham Center, grandsons Brian and Kevin Philips, Linda Jennings of Manchester and grandson Joseph Jennings, Aleena Rambush of Madisonville Tennessee, grandsons Christopher Rambush (deceased), Jason Kelley and granddaughter Christen Boisse. Tina Lambert and husband Walter of Mansfield, grandson Todd and granddaughter Alyssa. Agnes's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Potter funeral Home 456 Jackson Street (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Her Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church on Thursday June 4, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
