Adolf Henning, 64, of Columbia, husband of Selma (Jung) Henning, died peacefully Tuesday evening July 6, 2004 at Windham Hospital. He was born May 3, 1940 in Germany, the son of Tofiele (Jarsek) Henning of Ontario, Canada and the late Ferdinand Henning. He lived in Germany until the age of 5 when he and his family were sent to Siberia, Russia for 13 years following World War II. Adolf came to the United States in 1963, married Selma and lived in Columbia for over 40 years. Mr. Henning had been employed for 35 years at U + R Construction of Manchester. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Arthur Fitts of Katy, Texas, a brother and sister-in-law Erich and Lydia Henning of Ontario, Canada, 3 grandchildren, Stephanie, Joshua and Jayden as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Baptist Fellowship Church, 195 Route 6, Columbia. Burial will follow in the Center Cemetery, Columbia. There are no calling hours.
