Adela Ortiz De Jesus

Adela Ortiz De Jesus, 78, of Willimantic, CT passed away on September 18, 2014 in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loved ones. Adela was born in San German, Puerto Rico on November 1, 1935. She grew up in Guayama, Puerto Rico where she lived in a convent. She then moved to Ponce, Puerto Rico to begin her new life with her husband, Juan De Jesus Torres whom she met upon completion of nursing school. Adela later moved to Willimantic and is survived by her children Juan Alberto, Carmen Ana, Juan Carlos, Carmen Milagros, Ada Luz, Juan Antonio, Marta Iris, Roberto Luis, Adela, Maria Ines, Juan Ramon and Rosa. In addition to the eternal love she received from her children, she also had the adoration and love of her 21 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Adela's hobbies included watching her favorite team, the Boston Red Sox, praying the rosary, reading the bible, and attending church. While her greatest love will always be her family, Adela will forever be remembered as a faithful member of Sagrado Corazon de Jesus church, and devoted servant of her savior, Jesus Christ. Adela's unwavering Catholic faith was with her until her last moments when she was undoubtedly welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven with open arms by her Savior. Calling hours will be Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Potter's Funeral Home, 465 Jackson Street (Rte. 195), Willimantic from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 22, 2014, at Sagrado Corazon de Jesus Church, 61 Club Road, Windham, CT at 12:00pm with burial to follow at New Willimantic Cemetery on Route 32 in Willimantic.
