A. Carl Boecherer II, 81, of Canterbury, formerly of Old Lyme, died peacefully at home, with his loving wife Margaret (Lavallee) Boecherer by his side, on Sunday Jan. 5, 2003 after a long illness. He was born in Cambridge, N.Y. on Oct. 13, 1921 the son of the late A. Carl Boecherer Sr. and Marie (Audolenski) Boecherer. He was an avid horseman and animal lover who ran his own horseback riding school. He was a retired realtor in the area and also worked for Electric Boat as a draftsman for many years. Mr. Boecherer was a Boy Scout leader and also a Little League coach in Old Lyme and Lebanon. He was an avid UConn Womens Basketball fan and a Yankees fan. In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by 2 daughters; Kathleen (Boecherer) Bartok and her husband Stephen of Mansfield, and Susan (Boecherer) Williams of Canterbury, a son A. Carl Boecherer III and his wife Anne of Canterbury, 9 Grandchildren; Sarah (Bartok) Fraley, Nikki (Bryant) Plante, Stephen C. Bartok, Gabriel Bryant, A. Carl Boecherer IV, Tory Bryant, Michael and Brian Boecherer, and Daniel Williams, 5 great grandchildren;Zachary Bryant, Grace Fraley, Chandler Bryant, Christopher Plante and Faith Fraley, 2 sisters; Elizabeth Walrath and Marie Lauer. He was predeceased by a son Chris Boecherer. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be private with burial in Canterbury.
