Virginia I. "Ginnie" Hain, resident of Englewood, Florida passed away peacefully May 5, 2018 in Windham, CT. She was born August 10, 1926 in West Chester, PA and eventually moved to Norwalk, CT where she met her husband, Otto Hain. They were married on September 9, 1950, and went on to have three children. Ginnie had a natural talent for art, a tireless work ethic and a lifelong ambition of running her own business. In 1975, she realized her dream and opened The Lily Pad in Willimantic, CT, an iconic downtown business providing expert art and framing services to the local community. She sold it and retired 26 years later, in 2001, to spend time between her homes in Windham and Englewood, FL. She enjoyed boating, painting, cooking, gardening and watching the sunsets with her husband, until his passing in 2011. Ginnie will be remembered by loved ones and community members for her quirks, sense of humor, and generosity, and her love of life, family, food and a good Manhattan. She is survived by her children, Cynthia and Patrick Carey, Susan and Paul Mariconda, Christopher and Emily Hain, and grandchildren Timothy Carey, Brighid Carey, Ingrid Hain, and Kurt and Shannon Hain. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Always a pragmatist, she requested in lieu of flowers, any donations be made to Windham Center Volunteer Fire Department, 18 Windham Center Rd., Windham, CT 06280.
