Stanley P. Baran

May 26, 1923 ~ January 4, 2019 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Stanley P. Baran, 95, of Lebanon, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019.  He was born May 26, 1923, in Lebanon, the son of Wojciech and Zofia (Olszewski) Baran.  On his 20th birthday, he was drafted into World War II, where he joined the 296th Combat Engineers.  In the European Theater, he built essential roads and bridges, and cleared minefields.  Stanley, also fought in the Battle of the Bulge.  Upon his return, he married Theresa Labelle on October 25, 1947, and raised their family in Lebanon.  Stanley was a devout member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Lebanon.   In addition to being an over the road truck driver for over 40 years, and a loving, dedicated husband and father, Stanley was also involved with several civic organizations.  He was a Life Member of the Lebanon Lions Club, the Polish American Citizens Club of Willimantic, as well as a member of the Willimantic V.F.W. Post 1724.  He also enjoyed a good game of setback, cheering on the Huskies woman’s basketball team, and hearing the latest news, adventures, and accomplishments of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Stanley was predeceased by his beloved wife Theresa of 68 years, his brothers, John Baran, and Albert Baran, and sister Helen Rondeau.  A proud father, he leaves behind three children, Stanley Baran Jr. and his partner Connie Poulin, of Lebanon; Tina Mott, and her husband Larry, of Mansfield; and Mary Baran, of Rocky Hill, and her partner Michael Barnes Sr., of Suffield; a sister Stella Labelle;  He will also be dearly missed by his three grandchildren, Rodney Baran, and his wife Heather Baran, of Lebanon; Rebecca (Mott) Alberts, and her husband Raymond Alberts Jr., of Lebanon; and Kelly Mott, of Mansfield.  Stanley was also a proud great-grandfather to Sawyer and Shane Baran, and Jada Mott.  Pall bearers will be Rodney Baran, Sawyer Baran, Shane Baran, Albert Baran Jr., Raymond Alberts, and Tim Tollmann.  Stanley’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Potters Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195), Willimantic.  His Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 10, at 10:30am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 67 West Town St., Lebanon, burial at follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.  For an online  memorial guestbook please visit www.potterfuneralhome.com.
