Welcome to the memorial page for

Russell Joseph Seymour

September 10, 1928 ~ May 12, 2018 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Russell J. Seymour, of Columbia, CT, husband of Connie (DiTullio) Seymour, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep, Saturday morning, May 12, 2018.  Russell was born in Hempstead, Long Island, NY to the late Joseph and Mary (Cumming) Seymour.  He served in the Army in Korea ('52 - '53) as a driver in the motorpool. For 19 years he worked for Good Roads Engineering and Contracting Company, Inc., a family owned road paving and bridge building company as time keeper, foreman and heavy equipment operator.  Russell was always proud of his role as a foreman extending the many parking lots of Jones Beach in the early 1960s.  He then worked as a computer operator for Grumman Aerospace Corporation. Russell and his family moved to Columbia, CT in 1969, where he first worked as a foreman for the Elliott Corporation, then in Real Estate later for Bearing Distributer.  During his last 12 years of employment, he worked as a driver for the Gates Ford Agency; this was his favorite job, with his pride with navigating distant routes without GPS.  In addition to his wife, Connie, he leaves his son, Martin; a daughter, Kathleen King and her husband, David; grandsons, Daniel and Adam King; brother-in-law, Wally Lohr; sisters-in-law Marie (DiTullio) Garofalo and Angela (Serene) DiTullio; and, many nieces and nephews. Russell was predeceased by his sisters, Ida and Sandra. There are no calling hours. There will be a private celebration of life at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Columbia Volunteer Fire Department, 167 CT-66, Columbia, CT 06237.  For an online memorial guestbook, please visit www.potterfuneralhome.com.
