Richard Dennis Coons

Richard Dennis Coons, Age 82, of Lebanon Connecticut passed away on Saturday evening, April 14, 2018.  He was born in Jamaica, NY to the late Frank and Aurora Marie (Avery) Coons.  

Richard earned a full college scholarship for running track and field and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from St Johns University, New York.  He served in the US Army Reserves and retired from a long-standing career with the Hartford Insurance Company.  He enjoyed traveling to visit family, trout fishing and being outdoors.  You could often find him tending to his tomato plants and rose bushes or with a camera in hand taking pictures of family and nature.  

Richard, a man of faith, is survived by his wife, Dancee (46 year-marriage) and his two daughters, Kathy Coons-Towler (husband, Christopher) and granddaughters, Jordan and Leah; and his daughter, Hollie Henson and grandchildren, Mandy and Jesse Richard and great-granddaughter, Henley Marie; his brother, Frank (Inez) Coons; his sister, Aurora Santerre; and neices and nephews.  He was dearly loved and honored by his family, friends and neighbors who will surely miss him.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street (Rte. 195) Willimantic, CT with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 am.  Internment will be at the New Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon CT.
