Otila Luond

September 19, 1914 ~ July 7, 2018 (age 103) 103 Years Old

Otila Villarreal Luond, 103, of Willimantic, passed away at St. Joseph Living Center on Saturday, July 7, 2018.  She is now at peace with her beloved husband.  She was a communicant at St. Mary’s Church in Coventry.  Born September 19,1914 in Rio Grande City, Texas, Otila was one of nine children of Fortunato and Adela Villarreal.  She married Francis Earl Luond who predeceased her in 1997.  She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Ference and her late husband Anthony of Gales Ferry, Linda Harbec and her husband Albert Harbec of Windham, and her son, Paco Luond as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

Otila served in the Navy during World War II and moved to Connecticut with her husband in 1949. She raised her family in Eagleville in the home built by her husband.  She was employed at the Mansfield State Training School until her retirement and was also an Avon representative for over 40 years.  She was a member of the Eagleville Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. Otila enjoyed bowling, gardening, exercising, dancing and spending time with her family.  We are grateful for the compassionate and professional care that Otila received from the staff at Saint Joseph's Living Center.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 12 at St Mary’s Church 57 Valley St. Willimantic, CT.  The family will receive guests at 9:00 AM before Mass.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Saint Joseph’s Living Center, 14 Club Road, Windham, CT 06280.
