Milton Guay, Sr. Obituary

Milton N. Guay Sr. was born on June 23, 1934 in a small house in Chaplin.  He was a middle child in a sibling group of 6, all predeceased except for the youngest and only girl Mary Frost of Old Lyme and her husband Robert.  Shortly after graduating high school Milton met the love of his life and future wife of 57 years, Shirley.  The two attended Windham High School together and graduated in the same class never meeting each other until later at a friends picnic. Milton is survived by his 3 children Milton N. Guay Jr. and his wife Sandy of Hampton, CT, Michael J. Guay and his wife Karen of Chaplin, and Susan M. Guay of Willimantic, CT, beloved sister-in law Andrea "Rita" Guay; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  After the death of his wife Shirley in 2013 Milton was fortunate enough to meet another wonderful woman, Barbara Izabel from E. Granby, CT and married again in 2015.  The Guay family then gained some wonderful new family members,  Mark and Paula Izabel and their 2 children, and Debbie and Mike Kingsley.  Unfortunately Barbara passed away in 2017 but the two families still stay connected.  Milton worked for over 30 years as an Iron Worker and many of his projects helped make up the skylines of Hartford, Boston, and NYC not to mention many bridges that connect everywhere in between.  Milton was a remarkable man who always had a story to tell.  He spent much of his free time over the years fly fishing, bass fishing, camping, creating life long treasures through his talent of woodworking, digging holes, ditches, and trenches, making ponds, eating lobster, and throwing parties.  Milton was a devoted husband, amazing father, and genuine friend.  Milton passed away peacefully at his sons house in Chaplin, 2 houses down from where he was born.  A graveside service will be held at St. Marys Cemetery 386 Main St. Coventry, CT on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 10:30am.
