Miguel Reyes

Miguel Reyes, 68, of Hampton, husband of Patricia (Joly) Reyes, died on March 18, 2019 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 6,1950 in Comerio, Puerto Rico.  Moving to Connecticut as a teenager, Miguel graduated from O. H. Platt High School in 1969 and bravely served his country during the Vietnam War.  He retired from Northeast Utilities (CL&P) with 37 1/2 years of service. Miguel had three great loves in his life; Patricia (Joly) Reyes, his loving and devoted wife and companion of 42 years, her cooking and ‘golfing with the guys’.  He enjoyed watching sports, especially if the NY Yankees or NY Giants were playing.  His wonderful sense of humor would keep those around him laughing for hours.  He was an incredible man that knew the true meaning of unconditional love, friendship and loyalty.  Miguel, you will be in our hearts and minds forever.  “My wish for you is that you may always have a friend who will defy the storms of daily life at your side and that in every hour of joy and pain, you may feel God close to you.”  

In addition to his wife, Patricia Joly Reyes, Miguel is survived by his two brothers, Carmelo (Jackie) Reyes of Lehigh Acres, FL, and Ariel (Rosemary) Reyes of Wallingford, CT,  four sisters; Maria Reyes of Lehigh Acres, FL; Luz Reyes of Middletown, CT; Olga Grieser of Spring Hill, FL and Ana (Mike) Rivera of Knoxville, TN, as well as sixteen nieces and nephews and twenty great nieces and nephews. Miguel was predeceased by his mother, Andrea Rivera Reyes, his father Tomas Reyes and his niece Marilyn Gonzalez.

Miguel’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic, CT 06226. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice-Hartford Healthcare at Home, 1290 Silas Deane Hwy, Suite 4B, Wethersfield, CT  06109.
