Mary R. (Valaski) Laterra, 97, formally of Franklin, died peacefully Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Bayview Health Care Center in Waterford. Born in Stamford, CT, Mary grew up in Occum, CT. She married the late John L. Laterra in 1948 and moved to Franklin, CT where she resided for over 50 years. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Sophia Valaski, and four brothers, Carrol, Peter, Julius, and Steven; and her son, John L. Laterra, Jr.  Mary sadly leaves behind two daughters and their husbands, Janet and Frank Arnone of Pompano Beach, FL and Chesterfield, VA, and Roxy and Tom Winslow of Nantucket, MA, and two grandchildren, Ashley Arnone of Midlothian, VA and Dwight Arnone of FL and VA, and many nieces and nephews.  Throughout her life, Mary was interested in flowers. She was a floral designer at various flower shops, retiring at age 88 from Stop and Shop floral department after over 20 years there.  Mary’s family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday November 5, 2017 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., (Rte. 195) Willimantic.  Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday November 6, 2017 at 10:00am at St Mary Church, 70 W Main St. Baltic, CT, with assembly at Church.  Burial to follow at Pautipaug Cemetery, Rte. 207 Franklin.  For an online memorial guestbook please visit www.potterfuneralhome.com.
