Joyce P. Fox

Joyce P Fox, 77, passed away on April 24, 2019.   She was born September 19, 1941 in Columbia, CT where she lived her entire life.  She was the daughter of the late August and Winifred Person.  She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Jennifer, her brother Eric and sister Gloria. She is survived by her son Jeffrey, grandson Andres-the joy of her life, daughter-in-law Mayra and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many friends who all loved her dearly.  

She was one of the most giving and dynamic people you could ever meet; always putting others needs and feelings first.  She truly impacted the lives of many far and wide.

She was a proud graduate of UCONN and started her working career as a teacher with fourth graders in Lebanon, CT.  She made teaching fun and established lifelong relationships with many of her former students and colleagues. Joyce later founded TURF Realty, a successful real estate agency with her sister Gloria. She took great satisfaction in helping people become homeowners.

She enjoyed UCONN Men’s Basketball, Coca-Cola, M&M’s, politics and following current events. She served on the Columbia Democratic Committee and was once named Democrat of the Year.

A celebration of life will be held at the Columbia Congregational Church on Wednesday May 1st, 2019 at 3:00 PM.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Columbia Fire Department, P.O. Box 26, Columbia, CT 06237.
