Joseph Edward “Eddie” Gallagher of Columbia, CT passed away of congestive heart failure on May 12, 2019 at age 82. He was born in the Bronx, NY, son of the late Joseph and Madeline (Burghardt) Gallagher. He is survived by his beloved wife Patricia and son Sean, and was predeceased by his daughter Amy and brother William. As a 50 year member of IATSE Stagehands Local One, Eddie was a theatrical carpenter and sang backstage at the Metropolitan Opera House for 25 years. He was a builder of birdhouses and had them in all 50 states of the US as well as on every continent in the world. He was also a dedicated member of the Columbia Lions club. Eddie always tried to be the first in Columbia Lake early in spring and last during late autumn. He was a lifelong NY Yankees fan and lover of UConn Ladies Basketball, opera, jazz and NY pizza and bagels. He was a teller of tales both true and tall. A funeral service will be held at the Gilead Congregational Church in Hebron CT on May 18th at 3pm. Donations may be made to the Columbia Lions Club, In Memory of Lion Ed Gallagher, or to the Saxon B Little Free Library in Columbia, CT.
