Janet R. (Ross) Grief

March 21, 1947 ~ July 27, 2018 (age 71) 71 Years Old

Janet R. (Ross) Grief, of Willimantic, passed away on Friday, July 27. She was the daughter of Milton I. and Nellie (Hotkowski) Ross.

Janet's ambitions led her to travel many varied career paths over her life.  She earned her Associate's Degrees in Psychology and Business Management.  She also attended the Meridian Police Academy and became a detective.  Her Coast Guard training led her to become a service member on a cruise ship where she enjoyed traveling.

Later in life, Janet decided that she wanted to help the elderly.  She attended E.T.I. in Bridgeport and Wethersfield where she earned her physical therapy associate certificate, and is registered with the CT Department of Public Health as a nurse's aide.

In her earlier years, and having been raised on a 100 acre farm, Janet spent much of her time riding her horses and getting to know the animal habits.  She spent nine years researching the behaviors of rabbits.  She was a true animal advocate and adopted two rescue bunnies of her own, Yohann and Yanna.  They had their own room, were potty trained, and understood an array of words and phrases.  She loved them dearly.  Yohann and Yanna will be buried with Janet.

In her free time, Janet enjoyed cooking, U.S. and world stamp collecting, gardening, sewing, and reading a good history book when time allowed.

Per Janet's request, all services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Janet's name may be made to the ASPCA, PO Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090-6929.  Potter Funeral Home has been entrusted with her arrangements.
