Fred Fitts, 85, of Chaplin, husband of the late Barbara (Bemont) Fitts, died December 27, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Living Center. He was born in Mansfield, CT, the son of the late Howard and Eleanor (Warrender) Fitts. Fred served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a paratrooper and worked at the Mansfield Training School for many years. Fred is survived by two sons, Michael Fitts of Chaplin and Dale Fitts of Chaplin; a daughter, Lori Hemphill and her husband, Ed, of Woodstock, CT; three sisters, Jackie, Jeanette, and Beverly; one grand-daughter, Ashley Hemphill. He was predeceased by one sister, Charlotte. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held January 13, 2018 at 11:00am at the Hampton Congregational Church, 263 Main St., Hampton, CT 06247.
