Frank Joseph Eichner

October 25, 1927 ~ October 24, 2018 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Frank J. Eichner, 90, of Storrs, Connecticut, loving husband of Anita F. (Valente) Eichner, passed away on October 24, 2018, due to complications from pneumonia. He was born on October 25, 1927 in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. He was the son of Joseph Sr. and Rose (Ruschak) Eichner. He served in the U.S. Army having been stationed both in Japan and Guam as occupation troops after WWII. Frank worked for the United States Post Office in Storrs, Connecticut and retired in 1978. He enjoyed restoring antique cars and had a special interest in early 1960’s Ford Mustangs. His interests also included vintage airplanes, and he loved going to the local airports to watch people fly whenever he could. Frank was a talented individual who loved to play his guitar and sing the old-time tunes from long ago with his family. Both Frank and his wife of sixty-seven years, Anita, were long-time members of the Baptist Fellowship Church in Columbia, Connecticut. Aside from his loving wife, Frank is survived by his daughters; Debra Millette and husband Raymond of Columbia, Brenda Ballard and her husband Mark of Windham Center, son David Eichner and his wife Patricia of Storrs, five grandchildren; Eric Millette, Stephanie Miles, Jr. and husband Ron, Gregory Eichner of Manchester, Kathryn Eichner of Coventry, and Johanna Eichner of Storrs, sisters; Eleanor Walsh, Josephine Marrotte, Phyllis Trowbridge and Janet Frankel,  great grandson Jack of Columbia, and many nieces and nephews. Frank was buried in a private graveside service at Storrs Cemetery on November 3, 2018. A future memorial service will be planned. Frank will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
