Cousin Francis-
As now 2 years have past since you left our earthly landscape, you have now welcomed your 2nd cousin Patrick Riel as he went to his destiny on 3/20/2020, a little over a year after yourself in 2019. As a promise to Pat, I have continued to pass your grave a few times a year traveling through Connecticut to point northward from Pennsylvania and hold your memory and legacy dear. May your reward be great having joined all of your family of your generation. For those of us here, your thought comes to mind very often. Rest in peace.

In memoriam of Francis A Roy (1926-2019)-
Via marriage of my late mother Frances (Lachance-Pelletier) Riel to Patrick Riel, I am a relative of extension to an honorable man of the greatest generation whom has left our earthly landscape, FRANCIS A ROY. As we all in the family past and present, knew him as Cousin Francis, he was a man of solidity and well knowledged in both history and of lifes happenings, despite being a private man with exceptional talent. Raised in his younger years on a farm in nearby Mansfield, CT, Francis was foundationed with humble beginnings of hard work and unconditional love for his parents. He attended Windham High School, Willimantic, CT, and worked for the former Noheimers Market locally during his school years . Although not mentioned in his obituary, he served in the US Army at the end of World War II, being involved with out processing and discharges of troops returning home from service of honor and bravery. Returning to the area residing with his parents, Louis and Theolymbe (Lord) Roy until their passings in 1966 and 1973, Francis worked for the State of Connecticut at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT, until retiring around 1984. He loved his bananas daily and was an avid Baker and had many craft talents including upholstery and loved his M&M candies. Throughout Francis' life, many in his family predeceased him along with his parents, his brothers Roger many years back, and Raymond in 1984, along with many cousins to include Lydia (Couchon) Riel (1983), Laurence (Dumais) Ribeiro (1983), Emelda (Bourdon) Riel (1992), Leona (Roy) Dennis (1993) and numerous others from both the Roy and Lord families many years ago. He was very well read and walked daily throughout his native city of Willimantic, CT, seeing changes and probably reflected often of times gone by and a changed landscape of younger faces and landmarks. Its been many years I didn't see Francis, as he lived for a time in North Windham, CT, and lived out his final years at Douglas Manor in elder age and convalescence. Remarkably, he lived his life coherent and embraced those around him who brought kindness and meaning to his life. He always was that of a figure of exemplified integrity, honesty and respect to his elders and those he held in association throughout his long life. So as we give our farewell to "Cousin Francis", both from near and afar, may your unselfish deeds, presence and service to not only his family, but to his community, state and nation be not forgotten and be rewarded in life everlasting. Respectfully submitted-
